Former World Champion Maiken Caspersen Falla has signed a contract with the Norwegian Ski Association and is already working as a coach.

Maiken Caspersen Falla is now joining the coaching team of regional team Elon Innlandet. The former World Champion will be assistant coach to the team’s new head coach Karl-Gunnar Skjønsfjell.

Caspersen Falla has coach 1-3 courses, and the contract means that she will contribute to individual sessions with the team until Skjønsfjell is formally in place on August 1. After that, she will continue to work with the team on sessions and contribute as a sparring partner for athletes and coaches in the fall and winter.

“It’s going to be good, and we’ve had a great start with the new team. I’m very much looking forward to contributing on the coaching side of this exciting team,” says Caspersen Falla, according to Langrenn.com.

Head of the group for Team Elon Innlandet, Torbjørn Broks Pettersen, is pleased with the new signing.

“This is a fantastic resource to have in our support team. Maiken is one of our very best cross-country skiers of all time, and we are very happy to use her expertise. This is perfect in relation to the Norwegian Ski Association’s skiing policy document, where, for example, we want to welcome former athletes in new roles when they retire. This is important for skiing in Norway,” says Broks Pettersen in connection with the contract signing.

On a daily basis, Maiken Caspersen Falla is a teacher at Wang Toppidrettsgymnas in Hamar. The 33-year-old from Strandbygda IL has been working there since the fall of 2021, and among other things has been responsible for training the juniors. This winter she has also been an expert commentator for Viaplay’s World Cup broadcasts together with Marit Bjørgen and Hans Christer Holund.
