The Ski Classics Pro Tour is excited to unveil the updated regulations for Pro Teams, effective immediately. These new rules are designed to enhance the competitive landscape and ensure a balanced representation of athletes from various nations.

Pro Team Structure:

  • Team Composition: Each Pro Team must include a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 athletes.
  • Gender Balance: Teams must feature at least 3 athletes of each gender.
  • Nationality Rules: The team can have no more than 8 athletes from established nations. Established nations are determined by the Quota Country Index (QCI), which considers several factors including:
    • Nationalities of Pro Teams
    • Nationalities of Pro Team Athletes
    • Overall prize money and event prize money in Ski Classics
    • Top 50 and podium finishes
    • Total points in Champion, Sprint, and Climb competitions

Countries with a QCI of less than 10% are classified as emerging, while those with a QCI higher than 10% are deemed established.

Cubs Inclusion: In addition to the core team, up to 2 Cubs (athletes under 22 years) can be included. Cubs may vary between events and can only represent one Pro Team per season.

Additional Requirements:

  • Prologue Weekend: Participation in the Prologue weekend, including the Pro Team Presentation, is mandatory for all Pro Teams.
  • Event Registration: Pro Teams are required to register a minimum of three female and three male athletes for at least five events throughout the season.

These new regulations are set to foster a more dynamic and inclusive competition in the Ski Classics series. Ski Classics look forward to seeing how these changes will impact the upcoming season and contribute to the growth of the sport.
