Lager 157 Ski Team has confirmed that Swedish prodigy Alvar Myhlback has signed a new two-year contract with the Pro Team, marking a full commitment to long-distance skiing and Ski Classics.

Still only 19 years old, Myhlback has already spent three seasons with the Lager 157 Ski Team, steadily rising through the ranks and gaining valuable experience on the long-distance Pro Tour circuit. His most notable achievement came in March 2025, when he won the Vasaloppet at just 18 years of age, becoming the youngest winner in the race’s 101-year history.

“It feels fantastic to extend my contract with Lager 157 Ski Team,” says Myhlback in a post on social media, and adds:

“I’ve found a team where I thrive and can develop to the fullest. I’ve always loved long-distance skiing, and now it feels like it’s the right time to go all in. I look forward to taking on the biggest challenges and giving everything for the team in the coming years.”

With his new contract, Myhlback officially shifts his focus entirely to long-distance skiing, leaving no doubts about his future ambitions on the international stage.

Lager 157 Ski Team’s Pro Team Director Anton Järnberg highlights the significance of the signing:

“Alvar has really shown his great potential in long-distance skiing over the past seasons, and we are happy that he is now fully committed. The fact that he has already been part of our team for three years and gained so much experience makes him even more valuable to us in the future.”

Myhlback’s renewal follows closely on the heels of Emil Persson’s own two-year contract extension with Lager 157 Ski Team, ensuring that the squad retains both its captain and its rising star as it builds toward Ski Classics Season XVII.
