Tips for Tjejvasan – What you should keep in mind
On Saturday, it’s time for the 37th edition of Tjejvasan. Here are some tips to help you get to the finish line in Mora.
Tjejvasan 2025 is just around the corner! The elite race starts at 09:00 CET on Saturday, February 22, followed by a series of start waves throughout the morning. As of now, around 6.500 participants have registered for the event.
First held in 1988, Tjejvasan is, according to the organizers, the world’s largest ski race exclusively for women.
Here Are Some Tips for the Event
To have an enjoyable day on the trail, some preparation is key. Saturday’s forecast suggests relatively warm conditions, so using larger pole baskets can be beneficial in soft snow. Below are some of the best tips for a fun and successful race day.
Avoid stress before the start – arrive early
It’s easy to get caught up in pre-race stress at events like this. Give yourself plenty of time—things always take longer than expected.
Eat a good breakfast – but not too much
Standing at the start line with a full stomach can be uncomfortable. Instead, eat a larger meal the day before and have a light but nutritious breakfast early in the morning.
Energy intake during the race
To sustain your energy levels, it’s important to refuel during the race. Bring a few energy gels and take advantage of the drinks and nutrition available at the aid stations.
Prepare your skis
For the best experience, make sure your skis are properly prepared. If you don’t have the equipment or knowledge to do it yourself, consider using a professional waxing service.
Dress appropriately – not too warm or too cold
The forecast currently indicates temperatures above freezing, meaning your body will warm up quickly once you start skiing.
Enjoy the atmosphere
The race will have a fantastic atmosphere—soak it in and savor the moment when you cross the finish line in Mora!
Check your pole baskets
Since the snow might be soft, make sure your poles have large baskets to prevent them from sinking too much into the snow.
