Poromaa Will Challenge The Long-Distance Stars

by PROXCSKIING • 11.03.2022
William Poromaa makes his last World Cup race for the season in Falun this weekend. The following weekend, he challenges the Pro Tour skiers in the 54-kilometer-long Birkebeinerrennet in Norway.

“William will start at both Birken and Reistadløpet for us,” says Niclas Hägglund, team manager for Exsitec Ski Team.

Last spring, William Poromaa debuted at Visma Ski Classics during Vålådalsrennet, where he finished 25th, competing for the Norwegian Team Ragde Charge.

Now, Poromaa will be a very exciting challenger against the long-distance Pro Tour skiers in Birken and Reistadløpet. Two races with many uphills, where it will be interesting to see what the strong 21-year-old can do.

This time he starts for the somewhat anonymous Swedish cross-country team Exsitec Ski Team. With Poromaa in the team, they will now be seen a little more on TV.

The Birkebeinerrennet takes place on Saturday, March 19, and as reported yesterday, Therese Johau will be on the start line. More Norwegian and Swedish World Cup skiers may appear now that the World Cup season ends earlier due to the canceled weekend in Russia.

Both Jens Burman and Oskar Svensson are registered for Swedish Team Engcon, and maybe we will see them in the same race as Poromaa.

It is also clear that two skiers from the US World Cup Team, Rosie Brennan and Scott Patterson, will represent Italian Team Robinson Trentino at the Birkebeinerrennet.
