Bolshunov wins gold again
He isn’t winning any international medals these days. But the Russian star has still claimed gold. This week, Alexander Bolshunov and his wife Anna welcomed their second child.
“A new great love came to our family today. Our Olivia. Welcome, little one! We love you very much, your mom, dad, and sister Eva,” the couple Bolshunov and Zherebyateva wrote on Instagram. The newborn daughter measured 57cm and weighed 4,140 grams.
Olivia was born on Wednesday. Older sister Eva was born in 2022. Alexander Bolshunov’s wife, Anna Zherebyateva, was also a national-level cross-country skier and participated in the U23 World Championships for Russia. The couple married on April 23, 2021.
Bolshunov has now strongly asserted that Russians should return to international cross-country skiing. He blames Norway and the Scandinavian countries for keeping Russia out, but he does not mention the reasons behind the ban. Not a word about the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Alexander Bolshunov has a total of nine Olympic medals, three of which are gold. He won the overall World Cup in both 2020 and 2021. However, as long as FIS maintains the current sanctions, he cannot compete internationally. Bolshunov is also a captain in the Russian army.
