The Pro Team athlete broke a new personal best during Sunday’s event in Bad Gastein with her fourth place. In addition, she is in the fight for the Green Sprint bib. Now she looks ahead to the upcoming competitions.

Frida Erkers’ fourth place meant a new personal best in the Ski Classics Season XV’s first individual competition. She was in the fight for third place but was beaten by Karolina Hedenström at the finish.

“It was my best race ever, but when you are so close to the podium, of course you want to get up there, says Frida Erkers, Team Eksjöhus to Langd.se.

In addition to that, she scored many points in the Sprint competition and is second in the fight for the Green Sprint bib.

“I have been training for it throughout the summer and autumn. Of course, it gave confidence to be able to show that you can be there and fight for it and that it is not just a goal,” Frida says.

Erkers is at her second season with Team Eksjöhus. Together with the Pro Team, she has had a good pre-season.

“We have had several training camps together where I had the opportunity to train with the other strong girls in the team. I have had a very good summer and autumn with the team. In addition, we have a very good service team that gives us the best possible conditions for both training and competition,” she says.

This weekend it’s time for new competitions at La Venosta, Italy. There’s a criterium race on Saturday and an individual time trial on Sunday.

“It’s a different type of race there with a tough finish. It’s important to start fast to keep up, but at the same time it’s high altitude so it’s a balance,” she explains.

Want to help the team

Frida has set individual goals for the season, but she also wants to be involved and contribute so that the team performs well.

“My own goal is to reach the top five in certain races. But also, to help the team win the Pro Team competition.”

She does not single out particular races but expresses the importance of maintaining a high level throughout the season. However, Erkers says she really wants to be involved and contribute to the team competition.

“I want to contribute to us as a team being one of the strongest teams this season,” Frida Erkers concludes.
