Frida Erkers has emerged as a formidable presence, her transition from Team Robinson Trentino to Team Eksjöhus in 2022 marked by significant strides in performance and a newfound sense of camaraderie.

Season XV started last weekend, and Frida Erkers, Team Eksjöhus, achieved her best result at a Ski Classics Pro Tour event. The Swedish Pro skier reached the finish line in 4th position, and much of this is credited to the support she gets from her new Pro Team.

Reflecting on her move, Erkers acknowledges the role Team Robinson Trentino played in her career’s initial success in the Ski Classic. “I am very happy for the year in Team Robinson and grateful that they gave me the opportunity to enter Ski Classics,” she says. However, the switch to Team Eksjöhus brought about notable changes in her training regimen.

“We have several training camps together where I get the opportunity to train with the other strong girls in the team. We also have a very good service team that gives us the best possible conditions for both training and competition.”

The shift isn’t just about physical training but also about team dynamics. Erkers highlights the advantage of being part of a group of professional athletes who not only strive for excellence but also inject humor into their interactions. “Magni, Sofie, and Kati are all very strong girls, so you know you need to keep a high level to keep up with them,” she says to ProXCskiing.com.

Inspiration from Team Eksjöhus

Erkers’s impressive performance at Bad Gastein Criterium didn’t happen overnight. Her success, she shares, was a result of a good training summer, strong group dynamics, and strategic race preparation.

Being part of Team Eksjöhus has inspired Erkers to elevate her performance. “It is very inspiring to be a part of this team. It is a group of professional athletes who do everything they can to develop as skiers.”

The team’s structure, comprising four strong women with distinct strengths and weaknesses, creates a healthy competitive environment during training sessions.

Balancing Engineering and Skiing Excellence

Besides her athletic pursuits, Erkers sheds light on her life as an EPC Engineer at Serneke. “Of course, it can be tough at times, and a little more planning is required than just being a full-time skier, but I’ve tried that life for a while, and it doesn’t suit me.”

Her decision to juggle both roles has not only diversified her daily experiences but has also translated into tangible improvements on the slopes. “Since I started working 1.5 years ago, I have become a better skier, so it shows that it is possible to develop when you do it your own way.”

The flexibility provided by her employer is a crucial factor in Erkers’ ability to navigate her dual roles seamlessly. “I am very, very grateful to have an employer who allows me to work remotely when I travel around for camps and competitions.”

This accommodation is a testament to the understanding and support she receives, enabling her to pursue excellence both on the job and in her sporting endeavors.

Goals for the Future

Looking ahead, Erkers outlines her goals, both personal and team-oriented. “I want to contribute so that we as a team can fight for victory in the team competition! My own goal is to reach the top 5 in some races.”

While she doesn’t pinpoint specific races, Erkers expresses the importance of maintaining a high level throughout the entire season, with a nod towards the prestigious Marcialonga and Vasaloppet.

Erkers emphasizes her commitment to making Team Eksjöhus one of the strongest teams of the season. “I want to contribute to us as a team being one of the strongest teams this season.”
