Double junior world champion Eirik Sverdrup Augdal joins Team Eksjöhus. The 27-year-old Norwegian will be part of the Pro Team for the 2022/2023 season.

In a press release earlier today, Team Eksjöhus announced that Eirik Sverdrup Augdal is joining the Swedish Pro Team for the upcoming season.

“I know Mårten Eide Pedersen and Martin Löwström Nyenget in the team from before and have heard very good things about Team Eksjöhus. It is a very professional team that puts the athletes and our performance in focus, while there is good competition and a developing environment,” says Eirik Sverdrup Augdal.

Augdal had his international breakthrough in 2014, winning gold in the skiathlon (20km) and relay (4x5km) at the Junior World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy. Later, the Norwegian had several outstanding results at the cross-country skiing World Cup, especially on the longer distances.

“My strength has always been capacity and endurance, which should be suitable for long races. Since then, Ski Classics has become increasingly popular and grown bigger and bigger, so it will be exciting to try it for real,” says Augdal.

Sports director Espen Trældal is delighted with the signing and sees Augdal as an important piece of the puzzle ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

“We are getting a fantastic person and skier who will fit extremely well into the team. He is a skier with a very high level. With Eirik, we get more cards to play with, which allows us to develop and make even better performances both as a team and individually,” says Espen Trældal, Team Eksjöhus sports manager.

The start of the season is approaching, and the team is now entering an important period to be well prepared for the competition season.

“If we can avoid illness and injuries, we have a very good chance of raising another level this year. We have a good atmosphere in the team, the skiers are making steps forward all the time, and we are in a good phase. It feels very good for what is to come,” concludes Espen Trældal.
