Changes in the SC Ranking after Vasaloppet Season XV

After Vasaloppet last weekend, the SC Ranking saw many changes. Still, Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team, leads the SC Ranking, the global ranking system for long-distance skiers, while Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, is closing in on second place.

Emil Persson started Season XV on top of the SC Ranking with 26.400.000 points. After Vasaloppet in Sweden, the Swedish Pro Team athlete keeps the lead, now with 26.132.387 points.

In the SC Ranking, the global ranking system for long-distance cross-country skiers, Emil Persson is followed now by Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, in 2nd place (from 4th), with 25.714.563 points. Kasper Stadaas, Team Ragde Charge, is the new 3rd place (from 5th) with 25.455.726 points.

Ida Dahl, Team Engcon, is the new top 4 (from 6th), with 25.349.402 points. Oskar Kardin, Lager 157 Ski Team, is stepping up from 11th to 10th position with 23.652.156 points.

After Vasaloppet, four of the top 10 Pro Team athletes are from Sweden, and six are from Norway.

Top 20
Notable in the top 20 is that Runar Skaug Mathisen, Lager 157 Ski Team, moved up from 12th to 11th place. Amund Riege, Team Ramudden, also made a step up from 14th to 12th place. Torleif Syrstad, Lager 157 Ski Team, moved up from 18th to 14th place after his Vasaloppet victory. Magni SmedÄs, Team Eksjöhus, also moved up from 23rd to 18th position. The same is true for Alvar Myhlback, who stepped up from 22nd to 19th place after Vasalopet.

Get to know how the SC Ranking system works!

The SC Ranking points are calculated on the percentual time as the skier is behind the winning time in their gender with an exponential drop of points. This makes it possible to create one single ranking for both women and men, professional and recreational skiers. 

Each skier can include results from their best 12 races within 24 months. The woman or man with the most points will have the #1 rank. In a Ski Classics Pro Tour event, the winning woman and man receive 2.000.000 points; in a Challengers event, the winners collect 500.000 points.

For the Pro Team athletes, Podium Bonus Points are also awarded to the top three skiers in each gender. A Pro Tour event winner gets 200.000 points, 2nd place brings 100.000 points, and 3rd place awards 40.000 points.

As a registered user, you can filter places based on nationality, age group, and gender by using the Filter Tab on the view set on your page.

Everyone participating in Ski Classics, Pro Tour or Challengers events, recreational and professional skiers can connect their profile to the Ski Classics results database, called MyPages.

MyPages can be connected when registering as a member of the Ski Classics online community ProXCskiing.com. In the profile, you can view your Ski Classics event results, collect pins, print diplomas, and analyze your results with friends in the SC Ranking system. You collect points according to your performances and are rewarded with pins and diplomas in your profile.

Ski Classics Pro Tour Season XV

The Season XV of Ski Classics Pro Tour consists of 15 events on 11 event weekends in 6 different countries. The season started in Bad Gastein, Austria, on December 9, 2023, and will end in Norway with the 100km Ski Classics Grand Finale Janteloppet on April 13, 2024.

Next up is Birkebeinerrennet on March 16. The event marks the twelfth Ski Classics stage and another Grand Classics event, Season XV.
