Tomorrow Vaajmarathon enters Visma Ski Classics Challengers series for the first time. The course goes over a distance of 45 km in classic technique and has attracted some strong athletes that start the challenge at 13:00 CET.

Vaajmarathon is organized for the third time. The race normally has a unique feature offering a special experience to participants. They have a chance to cross the border to Norway during the race. This is not possible this summer due to the restrictions of the pandemic, but the athletes will still meet a beautiful scenery in the northern parts of Jämtland region, Sweden. The course stretches from Rötviken to the Norwegian border where the athletes turn around and race back to Rötviken again.

Many of the top athletes in Visma Ski Classics live in Östersund which is quite close to Rötviken, and the race has therefore attracted some of the strongest athletes from the Pro Tour. The defending Visma Ski Classics Champion Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team, is coming to test his form. He will be challenged by Max Novak, Team Ramudden, Nils Persson, Team Engcon and Axel Jutterström, the new recruit of Team Eksjöhus. Alfred Buskqvist, who challenged Stian Hoelgaard at Båstad-Mölle, is on the start line as well. It will be a thrilling race for sure.

Even though the women’s field is smaller, there are familiar names in the race. The number one skier in the Ski Classics ranking and the defending Visma Ski Classics Champion Lina Korsgren is ready for a hard fight, and she will be challenged by Hedda Bångman, Team Eksjöhus amongst others.

The full start list, live results and splits can be followed in the Visma Ski Classics Livecenter and final standings will be published at the end of the race under Results on www.vismaskiclassics.com.

All participants of the 45 km classic event on Saturday collect points for their SC ranking which can be seen on MyPages.
