The Aukland brothers have selected 50 young talents who will compete for NOK 50.000 in scholarships and challenge themselves against the world’s best cross-country skiers over four days at the end of June. Here is the selection for Camp Ragde Charge.

Brothers Jørgen and Anders Aukland have handpicked 50 young talents who will compete for NOK 50.000 (about 4.300 EUR) in scholarships during a four-day camp at the end of June. The selection includes 25 girls and 25 boys, all born between 2007 and 2010, for this year’s edition of Camp Ragde Charge.

“It’s been a difficult selection process, and unfortunately, some just missed out. The level is high, and it’s an incredibly fit group of young athletes who will get an intense training camp,” says Jørgen Aukland, according to Langrenn.com.

Intense Program

The concept of Camp Ragde Charge is loosely based on the talent camp “Ski Idol,” which ran for several years in the mid-2000s. Among the stars who once attended Ski Idol are Therese Johaug, Sindre Bjørnestad Skar, Didrik Tønseth, and Anne Kjersti Kalvå.

But instead of 30 participants like Ski Idol, Camp Ragde Charge is open to up to 50 skiers.

Among former participants is Oskar Opstad Vike. The 21-year-old made headlines while still a junior, reached the World Cup podium in his first senior season, and is now rewarded with a spot on the national elite team.

The program is intense, and participants will challenge themselves against several of the world’s best elite athletes. These athletes won’t be lowering their level. The ambition is to create Norway’s toughest training camp for youth.

“The highlight will probably be the day we do both the MiniMarcialonga from Bogstad to Tryvann on roller skis and the ‘King and Queen of the Hill’ running race up the course of Oslo’s Bratteste. We also spice up the days with strength workouts, the Anton Sport Milslukern Supersprint, and the classic 3000-meter track race,” Aukland says. At the end of the camp, a total of NOK 50.000 in scholarships will be awarded, along with various prize drawings.

Among this year’s instructors are long-distance star Andreas Nygaard and Stina Nilsson. The Swedish ski star won both Vasaloppet and Birken in her first season as a Pro Team athlete.

Pushing Limits with Purpose

Aukland, who works daily as a teacher and coach at Wang Toppidrett, explains that the camp is designed to strike a sustainable balance between intensity, pushing limits, and self-challenge, without completely breaking the participants.

“We could have made this even tougher, but the idea is to develop athletes. That means we should let them train hard but also survive and make progress, physically and mentally,” he says.

Aukland also emphasizes that the athletes should gain more than just athletic experience from the camp.

“The social aspect, getting to know others across ages and genders, is also important!”

The following athletes have been selected for Camp Ragde Charge 2025, which will be held with a base at Gardermoen from June 24 to 27.
