Hedda Bångman, Vltava Fund Ski Team, fell during a competition before Christmas. She suffered an ankle fracture but has already had time to compete in several races. After a solid performance at Birkebeinerrennet, she looks forward to the final races.

Hedda Bångman crashed during La Venosta Criterium and suffered a fractured ankle. She was then unsure whether it would be possible to compete anymore this season. But in February, she made a comeback at Kristinaloppet, winning the race.

“It has been beyond my expectations and was much quicker than I originally thought,” says Hedda about the injury.

Do you feel the injury now?

“I’m still a bit limited in my skating and classic skiing. I feel it mainly in the diagonal,” says Hedda to Langd.se.

Before Easter, Hedda did Flyktingrennet across Norway and Sweden. She broke away and won the women’s class with 3 minutes and 45 seconds ahead of Karolina Hedenström, Lager 157 Ski Team.

“It was a very good race. I was unsure of my form; the day before, it felt bad. That race also reminded me of the competitions that are coming up this weekend.”

Form on the rise

Hedda came from a solid performance at Birkebeinerrennet, where she finished eighth. Ahead of Reistadløpet and Summit 2 Senja, she hopes for even better results.

“My goal has been to finish sixth in a race this season. At Birken, I was sixth almost all the way but got tired at the end. So, the goal for these races is to get a good race that hopefully is enough for the top six.”

Have you decided whether you are double poling or skiing with kick wax?

“I will decide after I test the skis on Friday. The foot does not feel quite good when diagonal (striding), so we’ll see how it goes,” says Hedda Bångman.
