Anna Jönsson Haag Goes For Another Year At Ski Classics
Anna Jönsson Haag announced on her social media that she has decided to continue in Ski Classics for another year. In season XII, she competed in 9 races representing Team Kaffebryggeriet, with 10th place from Marcialonga as her highest result.
Now she has announced on her Instagram that she wants to continue challenging herself and race another year at Ski Classics:
“That thing with the kick. The kick I get from challenging myself. The kick that makes me feel so good. That I need. And always have done. So far in life, that kick has come from challenging myself physically. I remember the rollerski trips when I was a young teenager. I was triggered by figuring out where I could go, and then I could do the same round over and over to see if I could beat my time. I remember my first
longer run as a 16-years old. I had never run longer than an hour, and suddenly I ran almost double. I was completely empty and thought it was so far. But I was high afterward to have made it.”
“I could say that I am drawn to the extreme, but there are those who are much more extreme than I. But I like to do things that are a little out of the box, the expected. It gives me the kicks, and that is what drives me!”
In her Instagram post, Jönsson Haag states that the normal everyday intervals or few hours basic workouts are not what motivates her and keeps her going but the challenge:
“But that is not what drives me. I get the kick from the workouts I have never done before, new laps or longer laps than before. Tougher intervals. More demanding terrain. Simply more challenging because that gives me the kick and always has! And that is what keeps me going for another year because I like to challenge myself. Not for the results but for the CHALLENGE!”
She enclosed to ProXCskiing that she will also continue with Team Kaffebryggeriet in season XIV:
“We were (and are) a perfect match, and I enjoy spending time with the youngsters in the team and learning from them how to do the Ski Classics events and enjoy everything around!”
Due to a long period of sickness, Haag has not returned to a constant training regimen after the season, but she hopes to do more long-distance specific training over the summer months.
Also, as a mother of two small children, she needs to prioritize her time, but she sees it as a strength:
“I think everything works as long as you “go with the flow” and don’t push too hard or get stressed over things you can’t take advantage over. Keep calm, focus on things you can control, and enjoy every chance you get to do just that – enjoy! And seeing the kids grow up in the environment that I (we) love so much gives me so much energy, and the blessing of being able to do this together as a family is everything. And in the end – that is all about – enjoying while you can and take chances to create days where you enjoy! And yes, I still love (and need) to train, and I love to push myself to try to develop myself:”
In how many events Haag will take part is yet to be decided, but she is planning to participate in the majority of the Ski Classics events:
“I haven’t decided yet, but I think I’ll stick to the plan I had the last season, where I raced the first races of the season, all the races in January, and then the last races of the season. I skipped some races in the middle of the season to have some time at home and let the kids go to preschool.”
