The Swedish biathlon national team has started its first high-altitude training camp of the season. The team is in Lavazé, but two athletes are missing.

This week, the Swedish biathlon national team began its first high-altitude training camp for this dryland season. They are based in Lavazé, a small mountain village in northern Italy. The team will stay there until Midsummer.

With the 2026 Winter Olympics in Antholz as the main goal, every training week is planned with the aim of performing at their best at high altitude.

“Lavazé is a place we know well. We know that we get high-quality training here, both in terms of elevation gain and variation. It’s an important camp to build on the foundation we laid during the spring,” said head coach Johannes Lukas in a press release.

Two Athletes Missing

A total of 12 athletes are participating in the camp, which means two remain at home.

Hanna Öberg has been ill and missed many training days during the spring and has therefore chosen to stay home and train at low altitude. Viktor Brandt has injured his foot and will remain home for rehabilitation.
