Biathlon star badly injured
During a bike ride on Thursday, things went terribly wrong for the Norwegian biathlon star, who is preparing for the Olympic season.
It was during a bike ride on Ascension Day that Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen had a brutal fall. The Norwegian biathlon star was testing new equipment on his bike when things suddenly went wrong in a turn.
“I had brand new tires on my mountain bike and wanted to check how well they gripped in the turn. I found out, you could say,” the 32-year-old wrote in a message to NRK.
However, the injuries are not so severe that Sjåstad Christiansen expects to be off the bike for long.
Shortly after the incident, he posted a picture of a bloody arm on his Instagram story.
“Deep wounds on the elbow and a stiff hip, but back in the saddle tomorrow,” wrote Sjåstad Christiansen.
The veteran is one of six men selected for the Norwegian national team for the 2025/2026 Olympic season.

Several Biathletes Battered
Sjåstad Christiansen is not the only biathlon star who has taken a hit during bike training.
Last year, double world champion Endre Strømsheim ended up in the hospital after a head-on collision with another cyclist.
Karoline Knotten also seriously injured herself in a crash during a bike ride with fellow biathlete Lotte Lie a couple of years ago. That session ended at the emergency clinic in Lillehammer.
