Shoreline Events – Distance Race

The action-packed weekend kicked off with the Shoreline Distance race on Friday, where athletes faced the challenging 15km course, testing their mettle in the classic technique. As the elite women took to the challenging track, Margie Freed, Craftsbury Green Racing Project, emerged as the winner, displaying exceptional prowess. Following closely behind were Sarah Goble, BSF Pro, and Michaela Keller-Miller, Craftsbury Green Racing Project, who secured the second and third positions, respectively.

In the elite men’s category, Graham Ritchie, Georgian Nordic, claimed the coveted title, delivering a remarkable performance. Logan Diekmann, BSF Pro, displayed immense determination, securing a commendable second place, closely followed by Conor McGovern, Big Thunder Nordic, clinching the third spot on the podium.

Shoreline Events – Sprint Race

The excitement continued Saturday with the adrenaline-pumping Shoreline Sprints, a freestyle sprint race along the picturesque lakeside of downtown Rice Lake. The elite women’s race witnessed an impressive victory by the Olympian biathlete Deedra Irwin, National Guard Biathlon/USBA. Margie Freed, Craftsbury Green Racing Project, showcased her tenacity again, securing a well-deserved second place. Michaela Keller-Miller, also hailing from the Craftsbury Green Racing Project, rounded up the top three with her exceptional performance.

The elite men’s competition was equally thrilling, as Julian Smith, NTDC Thunder Bay, seized the sprint title, leaving spectators in awe of his speed and agility. Conor McGovern, Big Thunder Nordic, demonstrated his consistency by securing the second position, while Pierre Grall-Johnson, Nakkertok Nordic, showcased his talent, capturing the third spot on the podium.

In addition to providing a riveting display of cross-country skiing, the Shoreline Events boasted an impressive total prize money pool of $11,000. This made it one of the most significant cash prizes events in the United States for cross-country skiing or any related disciplines.

With its picturesque location in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, the Shoreline Events attracted athletes and enthusiasts alike. The event was a testament to the growing popularity and excitement surrounding cross-country skiing in North America.
