Tragic fatal accident shakes ski community
Two young Italian cross-country skiers lost their lives in a traffic accident in Italy.
The entire Italian ski community is in mourning after two young cross-country skiers lost their lives in a tragic car accident in Iseo, Italy, on Thursday.
It was the sisters of young Italian skiing star Teo Galli, who finished fourth in the sprint at the U23 World Championships in Lillehammer last winter, who perished in the incident.
Camilla and Dana Galli were just 23 and 14 years old.
According to Fondo Italia, the accident occurred in Iseo, Italy, on Thursday, June 4, when the car carrying the two young skiers collided with a 64-year-old man in a KIA station wagon.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene, but the lives of the two young women could not be saved.
Dana Galli recently achieved top placements in the Italian junior cup, finishing second overall in the U16 category. Last winter, she also won silver at the Italian student championships.
