Star sprint racer Gleb Retivykh will not be a part of the Russian Olympic cross-country team to Beijing in February.

President of the Russian Ski Association Elena Vyalbe confirms that Gleb Retivykh is not going to the 2022 Olympics in Beijing as a part of the Russian cross-country ski team.

Vyalbe has indicated on several occasions that star Gleb Retivykh will not be skiing for Russia at the upcoming Olympic Winter Games. The 30-year-old sprint specialist holds several World Championships medals, but has not yet competed at the Olympics.

“He has known from the start that it will be extremely hard for a sprint specialist to qualify for the Olympic team to Beijing. The criteria to make the team are extremely tough,” Vyalbe says to Russian news agency Tass

On the other hand, Alexander Terentev has received a ticket to China in February. The talented 22-year-old has delivered solid performances since the start of the season, ironically almost exclusively in the sprint.

The official Russian Olympic team will be announced on January 11.
