Norway’s Tiril Udnes Weng has become ill and will not race the 30-kilometer classic event at the World Cup in Holmenkollen today.

Norway’s Tiril Udnes Weng has become ill and will not race the 30-kilometer classic event at the World Cup in Holmenkollen today.

“Unfortunately, Tiril Udnes Weng has to withdraw from the 30-kilometer event today due to a sore throat. Ragnhild Haga comes in as an alternate for Tiril,” the Norwegian national team announces in a press release Saturday morning.

Haga will take over the same bib number that was assigned to Udnes Weng: number nine. However, Haga will start at the end of the field according to her FIS Point standing.

The women’s 30-kilometer classic event in Holmenkollen is a part of the World Cup, and runs as a mass start.

Today’s race will also be the last World Cup performance for Therese Johaug on home turf: The 33-year-old announced yesterday that she is retiring from World Cup-level racing after this season.

The 30km classic starts at 10am CET. Check out the start list, details and results here
