Katri Lylynperä announced on her Instagram account that she is changing her coach. Santeri Erola will replace Juho Halonen.

Lylynperä, who represents the Vuokatti Ski Team, is changing her coach. The role is now being passed to Santeri Erola, whose team also includes skiers Remi Lindholm and Eveliina Piippo.

“No point in hiding it any longer,” Lylynperä stated on her Instagram, continuing:

“The change brings fresh new winds, but on the other hand, a return to very simple endurance training. Sprinting is still the main focus for the coming years.”

Lylynperä has known Erola for years but admits that the coaching arrangement is new. The skier also tried her hand at Ski Classics last winter, and you can see Lylynperä’s results from last season’s races HERE.

Ski Classics

Katri Lylynperä was part of Team Kaski-Ekovilla last season, scoring 13th place at Summit 2 Senja and 1st place at the Ski Classics Challengers event Lake Saimaa Roller Ski Marathon. Her most significant achievements so far in Ski Classics Pro Tour events are 8th place at the Grönklitt ITT and 11th place at the Grönklitt Criterium, both in 2023.

Team Kaski-Ekovilla

In May, Team Kaski-Ekovilla, a Pro Team that had competed in the Ski Classics long-distance skiing series for three years, announced that it was closing its doors.

Last season, Team Kaski-Ekovilla finished 13th in the Pro Team competition and was the best Finnish team. According to Pro Team Director Kari Varis, the team had ambitious goals. The aim was to get the team into the top six over the next three years.

They had agreed with their partners to double their budget for the coming season. Three training camps would be held at home, and in the autumn, camps would be held in both Italy and Spain.

Team Kaski-Ekovilla’s top male skier Juuso Mäkelä’s best finishes were 15th and 16th in the challenging men’s category. Mäkelä also brought solid expertise in ski service and, most recently, fluor-free waxing. Veli-Matti Räsänen also skied in the team’s colors for all three seasons. Last season, Miro Karppanen fought with the leaders in the classic Marcialonga race until the end, finishing 19th. In the women’s category, Oona Kettunen in 6th place and Katri Lylynperä in 7th were the team’s best finishers.
