Klæbo removed logo from million-kroner sponsor
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo has removed the logo of the sponsor that has given him over 25 million kroner (about 2.1 million euros).
The Norwegian ski star has taken the logo of one of his private sponsors off his race suit. The agreement with Uno-X, which has provided Johannes Høsflot Klæbo with more than 25 million kroner (over 2.1 million euros) over the past five years, has expired. The parties have been in dialogue, but no agreement has been reached on an extension so far.
“The deal stretched through the World Championship season, but it’s not snowing outside yet. So, we’ll see what the future brings. We are in dialogue,” says Reitan Retail’s sponsorship manager Vidar Riseth to Adresseavisen.
“We could have started earlier, but we wanted him to have as much peace as possible around the World Championships in Trondheim. He couldn’t meet me then and risk getting sick. When he returns from the USA, we will talk,” he adds.

Private jet and expert help
The sponsorship deal with Uno-X has, among other things, given Klæbo access to the cycling team’s nutrition expert James Moran. They have also helped him several times with private jet transport. In addition, Klæbo has been able to join the team as a spectator at the Tour de France.
Klæbo himself has said that he is curious about how professional cyclists train, both physically and mentally.
“We have a lot in common, including being focused on innovation and development, both in relation to physical training, nutrition, and mental training,” said Klæbo when he entered the cooperation with the Norwegian energy company in 2020.
“It can be expertise in altitude training, mental development, preparations, and much more. But it’s also exciting to be part of a professional environment outside of skiing.”
No drama
Riseth explains that there is nothing dramatic about Klæbo removing the logo from his race suit.
“Johannes obviously doesn’t front Uno-X when the agreement has expired. That’s completely normal when negotiations are still ongoing. This applies to several of his partners and not just us,” says Riseth.
Do you hope to reach a new agreement with Johannes Høsflot Klæbo before the start of the season?
“In such discussions, there are always several parties exploring the possibilities. We can’t say much about this now. But we will meet, and we are in dialogue. There is no drama in this,” he says.
The plan now is to resume negotiations after Klæbo returns from the USA. He has been at an altitude training camp with the national team’s outcast Emil Iversen since the end of August and is scheduled to return to Norway this week.
