The Olos Ski Race Weekend in Muonio, Finland, is one of the early season highlights in cross-country skiing this weekend. The Italian national team is now presented.

Muonio, Finland, is the place for one of the first traditional cross-country skiing races this 2024/2025 winter. The event weekend starts on Friday, November 15, with a sprint race in classic technique. On Saturday, November 16, a 10km classic technique event awaits. And on Sunday, November 17, the weekend ends with a 10km freestyle race.

In a press release, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) has named their cross-country ski team for the upcoming FIS races in Olos/Muonio. Italy will start with 11 athletes. On the women’s side, Italy will start with 4 skiers. Already on the men’s side, 7 athletes will start for the European country.

According to FISI, the Italian World Cup Team continues to train in Finland in view of their World Cup premiere scheduled for the end of the month in Ruka, and this weekend will be racing at the FIS race in Olos/Muonio.

“The group led by Markus Cramer is currently in Muonio, where they will take part in some FIS preparatory races over the weekend. It starts on Friday, November 15, with a classic technique sprint, in which Federico Pellegrino, Elia Barp, Michael Hellweger, Simoen Daprà, Paolo Ventura, Francesco De Fabiani, Davide Graz, Anna Comarella, Caterina Ganz and Nicole Monsorno will take part. On Saturday, November 16, it will be the turn of a 10 km classic technique with Pellegrino, Barp, Daprà, Ventura, De Fabiani, Graz, Comarella, Ganz, Monsorno, and Francesca Franchi. The same athletes (with the exception of Monsorno and with the addition of Hellweger) will compete on Sunday, November 17, in the 10 km free technique that closes the triptych,” says the press release.
