GB Snowsport has confirmed the cross-country athletes selected to represent Great Britain during the 2025/2026 season, featuring 21 skiers across four squads, marking the largest British team in recent years.

According to a press release from GB Snowsport, Britain will be represented by five athletes who will continue in the World Cup squad: James Clugnet, Joe Davies, Gabriel Gledhill, Andrew Musgrave, and Andrew Young. All five will once again join Team Aker Daehlie, competing as part of a private international setup. Among them, Andrew Musgrave stands out following his standout 2024/2025 season, which included a bronze medal at the Tour de Ski in Toblach and strong top-10 finishes at the World Championships in Trondheim.

Building Depth Ahead of Milan-Cortina

Beyond the World Cup group, the British team is expanding its presence on the Continental Cup circuit. Beinn Horsfall and Tabitha Williams return, now joined by 23-year-old Anna Pryce, who recently completed a transfer from the Canadian system.

The Performance squad also grows this season, with seven athletes named, including first-time selection William Hughes. Notably, Elke Hammerstein and Ewan McAdam moved up from the Junior squad after solid performances last winter. Hammerstein also competed above her age category at the World Junior and U23 Championships, helping Britain to a top 10 result in the U23 mixed relay alongside Williams and Gledhill.

Promising New Talent in the Junior Ranks

In the Junior squad, a mix of returning and new names reflects both development and international integration. Elspeth Cruickshank, Sophie Forth, and Rasmus Ipsen return after gaining experience at the European Youth Olympic Festival. They are joined by Haakon Tveit and two athletes pending nation changes: Rufus Hinks (from the USA) and Charlie Williams (from Canada).

Additionally, Lewis Briscall and Jack Somerset will join Junior and Performance squad training groups, respectively, as non-squad invitees — a move that highlights GB Snowsport’s continued investment in emerging talent.

Olympic Cycle Momentum

This announcement not only marks a record in terms of team size but also represents a milestone in Britain’s cross-country journey as the nation builds toward Milan-Cortina 2026. Last season brought several breakthrough performances at the World Cup, World Championship, and U23 levels, laying the foundation for what could be the strongest British team yet on the Olympic stage.

Commenting on the selection, GB Snowsport Performance Director Kearnan Myall praised the athletes’ drive and commitment:

“This year’s Cross-Country squad is a really strong unit that we can rightly expect to see big things from coming into the new season. Last year saw some impressive results and performances across the board, and we know that this group of athletes and the team around them will be pushing themselves hard to go one better this year.”

The team now enters a key training phase with camps across Europe and North America, including participation in roller ski competitions, before the World Cup season kicks off in Ruka, Finland, at the end of November.
