The choice of the Kaeng Krachan Circuit, known for its smooth surface, proved to be a perfect fit for roller skiing. Kristensen stated, “Everything was flawlessly organized without any issues at all, and with live coverage of the races on YouTube to follow the athletes throughout the course.”
Over 250 athletes from nine countries participated, with newcomers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and the Philippines adding to the event’s diversity. While traditional cross-country skiing nations were notably absent, organizers remain optimistic about future international participation.

“Thailand has become the leading ski-country in Southeast Asia,” remarked Kristensen proudly. “Other nations like the Philippines are catching up, and we hope to see Vietnam, Singapore, and others join us soon.”
Looking ahead, roller skiing’s inclusion in the Southeast Asia Games in December 2025 marks a significant milestone for the sport’s regional development. SSAT’s dedication to growth and organizational excellence promises a bright future for roller skiing in Southeast Asia.
“I want to commend SSAT for their development as an organization,” added founding member Kristensen gratefully. “I’m proud to be part of this roller ski adventure in Southeast Asia.”
As roller skiing gains momentum in the region, SSAT, and its supporters look forward to further expanding the sport’s reach and enhancing its competitive landscape. With each successful event, the future of roller skiing in Southeast Asia looks promising, paving the way for more thrilling competitions and broader international participation.
“I expect the events to just get bigger and better for many years to come.”
