The young Norwegian could become the new Ski Classics king

The Norwegian Pro Team athlete caused a good impression this summer with the elite skiers and has added flavor to the upcoming Ski Classics Season XV.

Amund Riege, Team Ramudden, has arrived like a bullet in the Ski Classics circuit. Last year, he took the Pink Youth bib by a superior margin. The Norwegian from Oslo was on the podium in the prestigious Jizerská50 in the Czech Republic, finished 6th in Marcialonga and 12th at Vasaloppet.

There are many indications that Amund Riege has taken further steps towards this year’s season.

This summer, he caused a good impression with the established elite from both the World Cup and Ski Classics in several of the season’s most important lead-up races: Riege, who competes for the Swedish Pro Team, Team Ramudden, won the long-distance race at Toppidrettsveka in August, and crushed the long-distance elite in the Klarälvsloppet in October. The 90km long roller ski race from Uddeholm to Karlstad is a pointer to who will assert themselves in the winter’s long-distance races, not least Vasaloppet.

You won Klarälvsloppet against many of those who will now be your rivals. What does that mean?
“It means a lot, especially that I managed to win. Roller skiing is roller skiing, but getting those answers is promising.”

What expectations do you have for the premiere weekend?
“I have been a little sick in the run-up, but I hope my body is balanced. I haven’t been able to train at team pace since I was sick, but we’ll see if I can fit into the group.”
