Team Internorm-Trentino-Zorzi Max by SZ Dominates Viote Monte Bondone Nordic Ski Marathon

by ANDRÉ SANTOS • 01.03.2022
The three Italian Pro Tour skiers from Team Internorm-Trentino-Zorzi Max by SZ – Lorenzo Busin, Mauro Brigadoi, and Francesco Ferrari – dominated the classic race and conquered the podium on Monte Bondone, in Italy.

Last Saturday, the Italian long-distance Pro Team competed at the 7th edition of Viote Monte Bondone Nordic Ski Marathon in Trento, Italy. The elite and recreational skiers competed for over 30 kilometers and 300 meters of altimetry.

Many elite long-distance skiers who compete at the Visma Ski Classic Pro Tour were present at the starting line, racing against other high-level athletes. Still, Team Internorm-Trentino-Zorzi Max by SZ’s Lorenzo Busin, Mauro Birgadoi, and Francesco Ferrari conquered the podium, finishing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position, respectively.

“All the team members felt good during the race,” says Francesco Ferrari, feeling happy after his team’s success.

“Lorenzo Busin was in excellent shape and started the attack just 5 kilometers after the start. It was not an easy track due to the many uphill sections, and the weather was not fine due to strong winds that made us race out of the skiing tracks.”

Team Internorm-Trentino-Zorzi Max by SZ athletes Mauro Brigadoi and Francesco Ferrari and Team Futura Alta Quota Trentino athletes Riccardo Mich, Manuel Amhof, and Stefano Mich tried to chase Lorenzo Busin. Still, he managed to keep the distance until the finish line.

“We feel very proud of our team. This performance puts us in the right motivation to continue the Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour in the north of Europe. The most important for us will be to enjoy the rest of the season and get stronger as a team”, says Francesco.

After Monte Bondone, Team Internorm-Trentino-Zorzi Max by SZ does not have more races planned in Italy. The goal for the rest of the season will be to focus on the upcoming races in Scandinavia, trying to be the best Italian team.

“Our main goal for the rest of the season is to do our best in Visma Ski Classics Scandinavian races. Our team is made of mostly Italian athletes, and we want to demonstrate that Italian athletes can be competitive in long-distance skiing too”, concludes Francesco.

Team Internorm-Trentino-Zorzi Max by SZ will now go to the North of Europe, where it will compete at the remaining Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour events: Vasaloppet, Birkebeinerrennet, Årefjällsloppet, Reistadløpet, and Ylläs-Levi.
