The Ski Classics Pro Tour Season XVII is set to captivate ski enthusiasts with its exciting lineup of events. The upcoming season, spanning 13 events over 9 weekends in 6 different countries, promises an inspiring blend of endurance, skills, determination, and fierce competition. 

The upcoming Pro Tour Season XVII kicks off in Bad Gastein, Austria, on December 13, 2025, with the return of a familiar and exciting format: the Bad Gastein Pro Team Tempo and ends once again in Finnsnes, Norway, with the Ski Classics Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja on March 29, 2026. Throughout the Pro Tour season, Pro Team athletes will cover 558.5 racing kilometers.

“To launch a calendar is the result of a lot of discussion, thought, and work. I believe that Season XVII is maybe the best so far in Ski Classics history, with a focus on continuity and quality. The new Ski Classics ITT 50k will be exciting to watch as it unfolds, and the feedback will be valuable thereafter. The format is a true classical one and fits well within Ski Classics. To, for the first time, include a sprint competition, where Green bib contenders get some extra focus, also feels interesting. Now let the winter come!” says the Ski Classics Director Oskar Svärd.

Season XVII starts once again in the picturesque setting of Bad Gastein, Austria, offering a thrilling weekend of action. On Saturday, December 13, 2025, the season begins with the Pro Team Tempo, which returns to the Pro Tour calendar after a one-year hiatus. On Sunday, December 14, Pro Team athletes will face the challenging Bad Gastein Criterium, concluding the first segment of the season before Christmas and New Year. 

After a break, the Pro Tour resumes in Switzerland with the Engadin La Diagonela on Saturday, January 17, 2026. The 55km long-distance race promises breathtaking scenery and intense competition.

Heading to Italy, the first Grand Classics event of Season XVII, Marcialonga, will take place on Sunday, January 25, marking the conclusion of the Alp segment in the Pro Tour circuit.

The week after Marcialonga, the circuit heads northeast for the first-ever Sprint competition on the Pro Tour calendar, the Bedřichov Sprint, on Friday evening, January 30. Marking a historic milestone for Ski Classics, the Bedřichov Sprint is the first sprint competition ever included as a Pro Tour event. The 1.5-kilometer double poling race is hosted at the Bedřichov Ski Stadium and is part of the renowned Jizerská50 program.

On Sunday, February 1, it’s time for the second Grand Classics event, Jizerská50. The Czech events will be the central/eastern European segment before heading to Scandinavia.

After a break in February for the Winter Olympics, the Pro Tour Season XVII resumes in Sweden for another Grand Classics event, Vasaloppet, on Sunday, March 1, 2026. As one of the true pillars of long-distance skiing, Vasaloppet gathers thousands of skiers at the same starting area each year, offering both professional and recreational skiers a chance to write their page in ski history.

Orsa Grönklitt, also in Sweden, becomes the next destination. The Orsa Grönklitt 50k ITT marks the first-ever 50-kilometer individual time trial in Ski Classics Pro Tour history and sets a new benchmark for long-distance ski racing with individual start.

At the Orsa Grönklitt 50k ITT Women, the skiers will tackle the full distance solo on Saturday, March 7, followed by the Orsa Grönklitt 50k ITT Men on Sunday, March 8, on the same course and format.  

As the season heads to its final part, the last Grand Classics event, Birkebeinerrennet, on Saturday, March 14, is set to leave a lasting impression. The final Grand Classics event, Season XVII, will be followed by the returning Pro Tour event in Norway, Marcialonga Bodø, on Saturday, March 21, featuring urban surroundings and breathtaking Arctic nature.

To conclude a remarkable season in true splendor, the Ski Classics Pro Tour ends the winter with Reistadløpet on Saturday, March 28, and the Ski Classics Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja is the 13th and final event of Season XVII, celebrating all Pro Teams and their dedicated athletes.

Grand Finale

As of 2025, the 2026 edition of the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja will include up to 250 participation spots for recreational skiers outside the Pro Team field.

To qualify, skiers must have completed, during Season XVII, at least one Pro Tour race within the winner’s time +50% for their gender or two Ski Classics Challengers events under the same time requirement.

Once qualification is confirmed, a Grand Finale coin will appear in the skier’s SC MyPages account, granting access to register for the event. This initiative allows recreational skiers to take part in the Grand Finale alongside the Pro Team athletes.
