New Year’s Day is here, and today, ProXCskiing.com had a chat with Pro Team athlete Ole Jørgen Bruvoll from Team Engcon.

In a casual talk, ProXCskiing.com talked to Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, Team Engcon, about his season preparations, the first events in the Ski Classics Season XV, and, of course, whether to have a workout or not on New Year’s Day.

Ole Jørgen Bruvoll is an experienced traditional cross-country skier but quite a new face to the Ski Classics Pro Tour circuit. After joining Team Engcon for Season XV, the Norwegian Pro Team athlete started the winter with solid results and had his Pro Tour personal best at La Venosta ITT with an impressive 4th place.

“Bad Gastein and La Venosta have been a great start to the Ski Classics. It has been an exciting transition from traditional cross-country skiing,” says Bruvoll about the first two Ski Classics weekends, Season XV.

La Venosta ITT being a shorter race and with individual starts, Bruvoll shared his thoughts about different race formats:

“Considering my background from traditional cross-country skiing, the shorter races have probably suited me better, but at the same time, I also hope the training through the fall means that I can handle the longer races well, too.”

And how was your preparation for the Winter season? Did everything go according to plan?

“The preparations for this year’s season have gone well. I’ve been able to complete the training as I wanted. The entire Team Engcon has also been strong, so I have been well-matched in training.”

And now New Year’s Day has arrived. Bruvoll has his favorite workouts for this day.

“I use Christmas and New Year for training, and then long ski sessions are often my favorite.”

And as it could not be missing, New Year is a time for reflection. Ole Jørgen Bruvoll reveals what he expects for the future.

“I want to continue my development and be able to compete at the top of the Ski Classics.”
