Visma Ski Classics Challengers event Vaajmarathon took place yesterday with a strong start field in Rötviken, Sweden. Many strong Visma Ski Classics Pro Athletes matched their skills in a tough race. The 44km long course was raced with roller skis in classic technique.

The athletes started into the race at 13:00 noon with perfect sunny and not too warm conditions, very good racing weather.

In the end, it was two men who fought for the victory in a tough final sprint. Visma Ski Classics Pro Team athlete and winner of the Champion Bib competition in Visma Ski Classics Season XI Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team and Max Novak, Team Ramudden, reached the finish line at almost the same time. The race had to be decided by a photo finish. The young and new recruit Axel Jutterström, Team Eksjöhus did a really strong race finishing third.

In the women’s category, Lina Korsgren, Team Ramudden, dominated the field from the beginning and came first with a margin of over three minutes. Hedda Bångman, Team Eksjöhus was challenged by the young Alva Sköld, Häverödals SK almost all the way to the finish line but Hedda proved to be the strongest and left Alva behind in the last uphill.

All participants in Vaajmarathon 44km receive points for their SC ranking which they can check by logging in for free to MyPages.

As Vaajamarathon was a Visma Ski Classics Challengers event, Pro Team registered athletes were able to collect points for the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in respective gender. This means that Emil Persson and Lina Korsgren, once again, have now already collected the maximum amount of 50 points at a Challengers event which counts to their overall standing for Visma Ski Classics Season XII.

Results of Vaajamarathon and a list of all Challengers events with already confirmed dates for the season 2021/22 can be found on vismaskiclassics.com.
