Jenny Larsson: From injury to a successful season
Team Ragde Charge’s Jenny Larsson has had an exceptional Season XIV, marking her return to the sport with remarkable achievements. After a period of injury, Larsson embarked on a journey of preparation for the season, surpassing her expectations along the way. In an exclusive interview for ProXCskiing.com, Larsson opened up about her training, goals, and challenges during the season.
Jenny Larsson is not playing about her ambitions. After the end of the season, the Swedish Pro Tour athlete is again at the Swedish mountains to prepare for Season XV and add more hours on snow.
Despite a challenging April, where her training was restricted due to fatigue, Larsson eagerly embraced the start of May as an opportunity to launch herself into a new year of preparations. Determined and focused, she steadily built her shape, session by session, ensuring a solid foundation for the upcoming season.
“Right now, I’m in the Swedish Mountains in TĂ€nndalen for some days, maximizing hours on the snow. Before that, I did many sessions back home in Ăstersund and the Mountains of Ă re. So far, it has been a good start to preparations for next season. The shape was bad due to my April, but it’s increasing session by session,” says Jenny.
A successful comeback for Jenny Larsson
When asked about her expectations at the beginning of the season, Larsson revealed her desire to participate in and complete every event on the calendar. Additionally, she dreamt of standing on the podium, an aspiration that became a reality.
Surprisingly, her success came earlier in the season than anticipated. Larsson felt proud about achieving her goals, particularly emphasizing her pride in participating in every race. Given the challenges that arose with her surgery, such consistency was proof of her resilience and meticulous approach.
“I’m actually most proud of starting in every race,” says Jenny during the interview and continues: “I consider that a fact that I’ve done many things right.”

Reflecting on the season’s best and most challenging moments, Jeny Larsson revealed her difficulties during the last races, starting from Vasaloppet and going into Summit 2 Senja.
Struggling with the shape, she battled with a body that offered little in return. Despite the hardships, Larsson’s most cherished moment was crossing the finish line at La Venosta, a testament to her tenacity and the joy of accomplishment. And with the World Cup in Davos looming on the horizon, she felt even more motivated.
“My best moment was the feeling when I crossed the finish line in La Venosta. So proud of myself and so happy! And knowing that I was going directly to the World Cup in Davos right after didn’t make it worse.”
When asked about her dip in performance during the last three races, Jenny stated that it became evident that her training had fallen short. Insufficient preparation and crucial missed training sessions between Marcialonga and Vasaloppet significantly affected her ability to maintain top form. Acknowledging the need for more comprehensive and effective preseason preparations, the Swedish accepted the importance of consistent and well-rounded training to compete at the highest level.
“I really did the best in the situation, but it takes more than that to compete at the top.”
Looking ahead to the summer, Larsson planned to participate in various training camps and competitions, with the TĂžnsberg event in May marking the kickoff of her summer training. Eagerly anticipating a summer filled with intensive training, she also expresses her excitement about roller ski competitions in August and September.
“I’ve been longing for roller ski competitions for so many summers now,” she says.
Team Ragde Charge has been crucial for her comeback
Larsson attributed her successful comeback to the support and environment provided by Team Ragde Charge. Inspired by her teammates’ dedication and commitment, Larsson found motivation in a place where excuses were absent, leaving room for pure determination and hard work. Her teammates’ diverse backgrounds and skiing styles enriched her experience, fostering personal growth and self-assurance in her skiing approach.
“Team Ragde Charge has been a perfect place to be for me in my chase for the comeback. It’s no excuses â just do the job. I get really inspired by seeing them all train and compete, and it’s been a real joy hanging out with the whole crew this year,” says Jenny.
As the interview concluded, Larsson revealed her aspirations for the next seasonâto ascend to the highest positions once again on the podium. Determined and focused, she remains resolute in her pursuit of excellence, eager to push her boundaries and achieve her goals.
