Jenny Larsson, Team Ragde Charge, missed the entire season last year due to a hand injury. During Season XIV’s first events, Larsson reached her second podium in the Ski Classics and made her debut in the World Cup.

“Beyond all expectations,” says the Team Ragde Charge Pro Tour athlete.

This weekend Ski Classics returns after the Christmas and New Year’s break. On Saturday, it’s time for the Pustertaler Ski Marathon and, on Sunday, the Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge. A total of 94 kilometers await competitors within just over a day.

Team Ragde Charge’s Jenny Larsson missed last season due to a hand injury. Now, at the beginning of the new season, she has impressed in her return.

Larsson finished sixth in the first individual race (Bad Gastein Criterium), and the following weekend, she was second at La Venosta Criterium:

“I am very satisfied with the start of the season. It is a receipt that I did good things during summer, autumn, and early winter. Being able to take the second podium of my career in Ski Classics so early in the season was big for me; very close to the feeling when I won La Diagonela (2021),” said Jenny Larsson during the pre-event interview ahead of this weekend’s Ski Classics competitions.

“Looking at this weekend’s race, Pustertaler should suit me best. I never saw myself as a climber, but I go to both races with the same expectations. And developing my capacity in the climbs has been a goal in training for this season,” says Larsson, who got to “practice” competing two days in a row before Christmas when, the day after La Venosta, she made her World Cup debut in the 20km freestyle race in Davos, Switzerland:

“It was a big dream for me to be able to ski in the national team. Then I can’t brag about my time or the distance to victory. But I learned a lot and did a better skate race than I did in Bruksvallarna, so I’m happy with that. Then it’s good training to see how the body responds to competing two days in a row, and of course, I felt a bit of Saturday’s Ski Classics race,” says Larsson with a smile.

How is your form now compared to before Christmas?

“It feels like the form is better now. I trained well during the break, then we went to altitude in Livigno on January 2, and the following day I caught a cold, so it was three days without training. But I did my first speed session on Wednesday, and the feeling was good,” concludes Jenny Larsson.

The upcoming Ski Classics Pro Tour event is Pustertaler Ski Marathon, a 62km classic technique event in Italy on January 14, followed by Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge, a 30km race also in Italy on January 15, 2023.
