Emil Persson’s winning streak ended yesterday after six straight victories. The Lager 157 Ski Team’s athlete talks about a challenging day in the Czech forests at Jizerská50.

Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team, had won all the individual events in Ski Classics Season XIV. Yesterday, Kasper Stadaas, Team Ragde Charge, ended the winning streak.

Emil Persson was in the chasing group all the way to the finish line, but it was a tough day for him:

“The body felt good, but unfortunately, the skis did not go well. It was a tough race, with difficult conditions and very soft tracks,” says Persson, who was active and always in the front part of the group and closing the gap for several breakaway attempts:

“I did the best I could, and I went for the victory, but I couldn’t do better with the skis I had today. And when there were gaps, I needed to be there to close them,” says Persson, who finished eleventh.

“My season so far has been fantastic, but it’s history now. I am very disappointed. We discuss in the team and see what went wrong with the skis this time,” says Emil Persson in an interview for SC Play.

How do you see the upcoming races now in Sweden?

“I will be training hard the coming week, so I won’t be in my best shape for the coming weekend (at the two competitions in Orsa Grönklitt). The plan is to be in top shape for Vasaloppet,” concludes Persson.
