Results from the Austrian Biathlon Championships in Lohnsburg

The Austrian Roller Ski Biathlon Championships took place in Lohnsburg this weekend. The Upper Austrian Ski Association organised a short individual competition on Friday, followed by a sprint on Saturday.

The Austrian Roller Ski Biathlon Championships took place in Lohnsburg this weekend. The Upper Austrian Ski Association organised a short individual competition on Friday, followed by a sprint on Saturday.

The Austrian champions in the individual and sprint roller ski biathlon events were crowned this weekend. Friday’s programme featured the short individual competition. The men raced 15km over five laps, while the women covered 12.5km. A 45-second penalty was added for each missed shot.

Anna Gandler of Kitzbüheler Ski Club claimed the Austrian women’s title in a time of 38:02.4, despite two shooting misses. Anna Andexer finished second, 18.3 seconds behind, also with two misses. Dunja Zdouc completed the podium in third place, 1:05.8 behind the winner, with two misses as well.

In the men’s competition, Magnus Oberhauser of ASKÖ Villach took the victory in 40:39.1 with two shooting misses and thus claimed his first Austrian national championship title. Dominic Unterweger finished just 4.5 seconds behind in second place with three misses, while Fredrik Mühlbacher secured third, 5.2 seconds back, despite four misses.

On Saturday, the men contested a 10km sprint over three laps, while the women raced 7.5km. Each missed shot resulted in a 150m penalty loop.

Lara Wagner of Kitzbüheler Ski Club won the women’s race in 22:17.2 with one shooting miss. Tamara Steiner finished second, six seconds behind, after shooting clean. Anna Andexer took third place with two misses, crossing the finish line 25.7 seconds behind Wagner.

In the men’s race, Fredrik Mühlbacher of HSV Saalfelden claimed victory in 25:46.5. Lukas Haslinger finished just 4.2 seconds behind in second place. Both athletes shot clean. Dominic Unterweger completed the podium in third, 16 seconds behind the winning time, with one shooting miss.
