Biathlon Canada has announced the biathletes selected for the Canadian biathlon teams for the 2025/2026 season.

According to a press release from Biathlon Canada, the Canadian biathletes selected will be part of the Senior National Team and National Development Team for the upcoming Olympic season.

“Biathlon Canada Announces 2025–2026 Senior National and Development Teams for Olympic Season

Canmore, AB – Biathlon Canada is pleased to announce the athletes selected to the Senior National Team and National Development Team for the 2025–2026 season. With the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games less than a year away, these athletes will form the core of Canada’s high-performance program heading into a pivotal competitive year,” says the press release, and adds:

“Led by coaches Andrew Chisholm and Helene Jorgensen, the Senior National Team (SNT) will focus on performance at the World Cup level and Olympic qualification. Training will emphasize integration and progression, with an increased emphasis on collaboration across team levels.

Coach Chisholm explained the shift:

“We’ve made the decision to engage with the NDT more regularly so that we can not only develop the overall level of Canadian athletes in international competition, but also so that we can have a good working relationship with whoever does qualify for the upcoming Olympic Games. We’ve done our best to address our performance gaps this spring and make meaningful changes to the training we will do this off-season, so we can hope for some improved overall performances as we head into the next winter. We will all be putting in the work to be sure that our team is at the top of their game this February.”

The National Development Team (NDT) features a balanced roster of experienced and emerging athletes, many with World Cup and IBU Cup starts. Increased collaboration with the Senior National Team is expected to elevate both performance levels and team culture.

Athlete Haldan Borglum expressed his goals for the year:

“My main goal for the upcoming season is to qualify for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics,” and “I’m looking forward to having a number of opportunities to train with the SNT and NDT all together. It’s a strong crew!”

Coach Chisholm added:

“Coordinating with the NDT will have a two-pronged effect. We will be providing a competitive training environment for our athletes on the SNT on a more regular basis, as well as investing in our up-and-coming athletes sooner, so that they will be ready to be competitive on the international stage earlier in their careers. We want to see the overall depth of strong Canadian athletes grow, and this is a good first step to making that happen.”

Biathlon Canada extends congratulations to all athletes named to the 2025–2026 national program.
