Biathlon Canada has announced the athletes selected for its World Cup and IBU Cup national teams for the opening competitions of the 2025/2026 international biathlon season.

According to a press release from Biathlon Canada, a total of 15 athletes have been nominated to represent the nation at the start of the new Olympic season.

“Biathlon Canada is proud to announce the athletes nominated to represent Canada at the opening events of the 2025–26 international biathlon season. Following a competitive National Trials event, the organization is pleased to publish its nominations for World Cup Tour #1 and IBU Cup Tour #1,” stated Biathlon Canada in a press release, and added:

“The governing body for biathlon in Canada named 15 athletes who will represent the country at international events to start the highly anticipated Olympic season. The national program will be led by seven athletes – three men and four women – who will hit the start line for World Cup competitions. Eight athletes – four men and four women – will compete on the IBU Cup.”

“This young and talented team has shown incredible drive and determination as we head into an Olympic year,” said Clayton Whitman, performance pathway director, Biathlon Canada. “Their performances at Trials and throughout the preseason demonstrate the strength and depth of Canadian biathlon. We’re excited to see them put their training to the test on the world stage this winter.”

Selections were based on a combination of performance percentage rankings, discretionary nominations following the Biathlon Canada Trials, and pre-selections recognizing prior achievements.

The World Cup season begins November 30 in Östersund, Sweden, while the IBU Cup gets underway December 4 in Obertilliach, Austria.
