This Swedish Pro Team has been part of Ski Classics since 2014 and remains one of the most influential forces on the Pro Tour. After securing fourth place in the Pro Team ranking last winter, Lager 157 Ski Team now looks ahead to another season filled with podiums and victories.

Entering its twelfth season in the circuit, the team presented its roster earlier this year. The lineup remains essentially unchanged from last winter, with one addition and one departure: Einar Kalland-Olsen joins the squad after a season with the team’s recruitment project, Exsitec Ski Team, while veteran Marcus Johansson moves to the newly formed The Youth Team (formerly Exsitec Ski Team).

Lager 157 Ski Team lines up with nine Pro Team athletes – three women and six men – ready to fight for points, podium places, colored bibs, and the overall title this winter.

The squad features seven Swedish and two Norwegian athletes: Jenny Larsson (1996), Karolina Hedenström (2000), Linnea Johansson (2001), Emil Persson (1995), Alvar Myhlback (2006), Oskar Kardin (1992), Runar Skaug Mathisen (1993), Einar Kalland-Olsen (1994), and Nils Dahlsten (1993).

Strong women’s squad ready for more podiums

Lager 157’s women are expected to play a significant role in the team’s points tally while fighting for individual podiums. Jenny Larsson, fourth overall last season, proved her consistency with five podium finishes: 3 Zinnen Ski-Marathon (2nd), La Venosta ITT (3rd), Jizerská50 (2nd), Grönklitt Criterium (2nd), and Grönklitt ITT (3rd). She also claimed victory at the Ski Classics Challengers event, Tjejvasan. Larsson finished inside the top nine in all but two of her Pro Tour appearances last winter.

Karolina Hedenström continues with her solid form, finishing third in the Youth competition and ninth in the Champion competition last season. With three career podiums so far, she is expected to take another step toward the top this winter.

Linnea Johansson might not yet be as established as her teammates, but she showed solid progress last season, consistently finishing between the top 12 and 25.

Experienced men and rising stars

The men’s side blends experience, proven winners, and some of the sport’s brightest young talents. Emil Persson, overall Champion of Season XIV, remains the team’s spearhead. After nine victories in 2022/2023 and two podiums in 2023/2024, he returned to the podium three times last season, with one win – Bad Gastein Criterium (2nd), Vasaloppet (2nd), and Grönklitt ITT (1st). This winter, Persson will aim to regain his dominant form.

Alvar Myhlback continues to make history. The Swedish prodigy became the youngest-ever Vasaloppet winner last season, at just 18 years old, and finished among the top 13 in four additional events: 3 Zinnen Ski-Marathon (12th), La Venosta ITT (6th), Engadin La Diagonela (10th), and Birkebeinerrennet (13th).

Experienced Oskar Kardin remains a pillar of consistency. Winner of La Venosta ITT last season and with 11 career podiums – including victory at Engadin La Diagonela 2021 – he still has what it takes to challenge for top spots.

Runar Skaug Mathisen, one of the Pro Tour’s most charismatic athletes, claimed a memorable win at Marcialonga 2024. He ended last season 26th in the Champion competition and inside the top 20 in five Pro Tour events.

Nils Dahlsten continues to build momentum. Ninth at La Venosta ITT and top 26 in four other Pro Tour events, he finished 30th at Vasaloppet, showing strong potential to move further up the ranks.

The newest addition, Norwegian Einar Kalland-Olsen, joins from Exsitec Ski Team (now The Youth Team). Olsen impressed with three top-10 finishes last season and is considered a high-potential athlete capable of pushing closer to the podium.

“We have a very strong and complete squad for the upcoming season. On both the women’s and men’s sides, we have skiers who can compete for victories in the biggest races. Einar has made great strides over the past year, and we see huge potential in him. The goal is crystal clear, we are going for Vasaloppet victories in both categories,” said Pro Team Director Anton Järnberg in an earlier press release.
