The Russian team to the 15-kilometer classic event at the 2022 Olympics is ready: The king of the skiathlon, Alexander Bolshunov, is one of four Russian athletes who will ski the distance race on Friday.

Clearly in shape and ready for more after his crushing victory in the opening cross-country event on Sunday, Bolshunov is a shoe-in for the 15-kilometer classic event on Friday.

However, neither silver medalist at the skiathlon Denis Spitsov, nor eight-place finisher Artem Maltsev are selected for the 15-kilometer classic. Alexey Chervotkin, who was 36th in the skiathlon is on the team for Friday’s event. The two others are Ivan Yakimushkin and Ilia Semikov.
