It is now confirmed who will take over the role of national team manager for the Swedish cross-country skiing team.

When the Swedish Ski Association presented the national team groups just over a week ago, they had not yet finalized a new national team manager. It is now confirmed that Olympic medalist Niklas Jonsson will take over the baton from Anders Byström.

Cross-Country Director Lars Öberg is pleased with the appointment.

“Niklas Jonsson’s personal qualities in terms of clear leadership and communicative abilities have been of great importance. This, combined with long-term experience from his own active career in the cross-country national team, managerial and leadership assignments for a long time in both cross-country skiing and business, meant that the choice fell on Niklas,” says Lars Öberg in a press release.

Extensive experience

Niklas Jonsson won an Olympic silver medal in the 50km race in Nagano in 1998.

“I am both proud and honored to take on the role of national team manager. Cross-country skiing has meant a lot to me for a large part of my life and I am passionate about the sport,” says Niklas Jonsson.

In parallel with his athletic commitment, Niklas Jonsson has also been active in the business sector. He is a trained economist and has worked in leadership roles for two decades, responsible for business development, personnel, and strategic processes.
