The International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS) Council held its Spring meeting on Wednesday, May 24, ahead of the FIS Congress today, May 25, and decided to keep the policy of not allowing the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in the Federation’s events.

“Russia-Belarus Participation

The current FIS policy, which does not allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in FIS events, will remain in effect until further notice.” 

FIS follows the Council decision of October 2022

Last year in October, before the start of the Winter season, the International Ski & Snowboard Federation (FIS) Council decided during its Fall meeting in Soelden, Austria, not to allow Russian and Belarusian teams and athletes to participate in all FIS competitions – that decision you can read here.

Below is the FIS decision from October 2022:

“Russia and Belarus Participation at FIS Events

The FIS Council decided, with due regard to the integrity of FIS competitions and for the safety of all participants, and in line with IOC recommendations, to continue its policy not to allow Russian and Belarusian teams and athletes to participate in all FIS competitions.”

Last week, Ski Classics announced that Russian and Belarusian athletes and Pro Teams would be banned from participating in its events for another season due to the ongoing and deepening conflict over the last 12 months in Ukraine.
