Lahti World Cup – Women’s Freestyle Team Sprint – Preview

On Friday, March 24, 2023, the women’s team sprint in freestyle technique is set to take place in Lahti, and the excitement is palpable. With a field of strong contenders, all eyes are on who will come out on top.

Sweden has won 10 of the last 13 women’s team sprints in the World Cup, and they are chasing Norway for the most wins in this category. Sweden’s most recent victory in Lahti was on February 10, 2019, with Dahlqvist and Ida Ingemarsdotter taking the top spot. No cross-country skier has won multiple team sprint events in Lahti, so it will be interesting to see if Sweden can repeat their success this year.

Norway is the current record holder for the most women’s team sprint wins in the World Cup, with a total of 15. However, they have not won any of the last 13 team sprint events. Norway’s previous team sprint victory in the women’s World Cup was in the classic style in Nové Mesto na Morave on January 12, 2014.

The United States won one women’s team event in the World Cup in Quebec on December 7, 2012. However, they have finished on the podium in the last two women’s team sprint events in the World Cup, with Julia Kern being part of both teams, but she will not start tomorrow.

Overall, the Women’s Team Sprint Freestyle race promises to be an exciting event, with strong contenders from all over the World. Fans of cross-country skiing won’t want to miss this highly anticipated event.
