Klæbo sets the stage for continued success

Norwegian cross-country skier star, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, is steadily laying the groundwork for his career outside the Norwegian national team. As he embarks on this new chapter, Klæbo has assembled a dedicated team to support him. Additionally, he has recently acquired a state-of-the-art Abilica x Normill multisport treadmill, which now graces his home in Norway.

Having decided to sit out the upcoming season as a member of the Norwegian national team, Klæbo is now forging his path while engaging in discussions with the Norwegian Ski Association regarding a representation agreement. The agreement is vital for Klæbo’s participation in the upcoming World Cup season.

“We are actively working towards that goal, and I remain hopeful. Ski Association president Tove Moe has stated that if one is talented enough, they should be given the opportunity. So, let us hope that Johannes proves his abilities in the snow, and we can agree. The season is still a long way off,” commented Haakon Klæbo, Johannes’ father and manager, in a press release.

During a recent press event in Trondheim, Klæbo unveiled his latest addition, the Abilica x Normill XC 3300 multisport treadmill. This impressive machine, weighing 940 kilograms, boasts a top speed of 50 km per hour. Spanning 3.9 meters in length and 3.7 meters in width, it provides ample space for Klæbo’s training needs. The 3.3-meter-long and 2.5-meter-wide belt can simulate various terrains, including renowned tracks like the Trondheim 2025 World Cup course. Manufactured in Ålgård, Norway, the treadmill has a price tag of 1.4 million Norwegian Krones.

“In the months and years ahead, I plan to dedicate numerous hours to training on this treadmill. I can even program it to replicate the courses featured in upcoming World Championships and Olympic events. I aim to push myself further with this new tool and become a better skier,” expressed Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.

Klæbo values stability when it comes to his support team. His father, Haakon, will continue as his manager, while his grandfather, Kåre, will remain his coach. Megan Stowe, the physical therapist who joined last winter, will continue her valuable role. Lasse Gimnes, who has been assisting Klæbo with communication since 2016, remains an integral part of the team.

“We believe in investing in the resources that have served us well for many years. Stability is of utmost importance to us. As time goes on, we may consider incorporating additional resources. We also constantly communicate with several individuals who provide valuable advice in various aspects. We have an exceptional group supporting us,” emphasized Haakon Klæbo.

“I don’t feel alone. I have my team and maintain regular communication with national team members and those outside it. I trained with my former sprint national team colleagues at Sognefjellet a few weeks ago. It was a fantastic group. I never feel isolated or lonely. Solitude does not hinder me; I am accustomed to training extensively on my own,” shared Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo continues to enjoy the support of his sponsors, including Uno-X, Hoka, Craft, Fischer, Toyota, Hestra, LEKI, and Rudy Project, among others. Notably, Klæbo recently signed a private agreement with Craft, a significant strategic partner who has been instrumental in their collaborative efforts.

“I greatly appreciate the partnership with Craft as a crucial private sponsor. Together, we engage in numerous exciting ventures,” acknowledged Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.

“We are fortunate to have stable and supportive sponsors and partners. Moreover, we have several new and promising partnerships in the works, which we will reveal when the time is right,” added Haakon Klæbo.

In preparation for the previous season, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo executed his altitude training program, spending approximately 100 days at high altitudes. The experience gained during those preparations has proven invaluable and will continue to shape his future endeavors.

“We made many sound decisions last year and are well on our way to the World Championships in Trondheim. We obtained significant altitude training experience that will guide us moving forward. While we will prioritize altitude training again this year, it will be slightly fewer days than before. This autumn, we will prioritize gatherings in Utah, USA, for altitude training,” revealed Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.
