In less than a year, it’s time for the Winter Olympics in Milano/Cortina. Edvin Anger is now hiring his father to take the next step.

Edvin Anger had his big breakthrough last season, where he, among other things, claimed his first individual World Cup victory and finished second in the overall World Cup standings. That brought in a significant amount of money, specifically 1.6 million SEK (approximately 147.000 EUR) in prize money, not including bonuses.

In addition, Anger, Jonna Sundling, and Emma Ribom received another financial boost when financier Christer Gardell decided to sponsor the trio with “a few million.”

In an interview with the local newspaper Södran, Anger revealed that it’s a three-year contract, meaning he receives a lump sum each year.

Hiring his father

Edvin Anger left the World Championships in Trondheim without any individual medals. His goal for next year is the Winter Olympics in Milano/Cortina, where he aims to bring home an individual medal.

“An individual medal is absolutely the top priority, no question about it,” he told Södran.

To take another step forward and contend for individual medals, he has started building a team around him. That includes hiring his father, Fredrik Anger, who will work part-time with his son and spend the rest of his time running the sports store he manages.

Building for the future

In addition to his father, Anger has hired another person part-time to handle media, social media, and sponsor development.

“It’s all very capital-intensive,” Edvin explains and adds, “But if everything falls into place, it could turn out well. This is still just the beginning.”

He hopes it will yield results in the long term.

“I believe this can bring a lot over time, and it’s important to build for the future.”
