FIS Roller Skiing – Press Release

“We are pleased to introduce a new series of roller ski competitions – the FIS Roller Ski Asian Cup.

Roller skiing is very actively developing on the Asian continent. It’s an important sport for athletes in this region because of the natural weather conditions.

And now all athletes from countries whose NOCs are members of the OCA (Olympic Council of Asia) and whose NSAs are members of the FIS have the opportunity to compete for the title of the best roller skier in Asia.

Thailand, where roller skiing is developing at a great pace, will host the first stage. A country where more than 250 athletes are already taking part in the national rollerski competition, including athletes of the youngest age and with the participation of athletes from neighboring countries of Southeast Asia. The competition will take place from July 3 to 6, but organizers invite you to stay for the national championships with the children’s age categories until July 9.

The next stop is Korea, where cross-country athletes are strong and NSA is taking a lot of effort to promote the sport, often inviting athletes from all over Asia to join them for common training camps. The competition will be held from August 4 to 6 on the Olympic courses of Pyeongchang!

The final stage will be hosted by Kazakhstan. One of the most “northern” countries in the region was the Winner Nation of the FIS Roller Ski World Cup in the 2023-2024 season and ranked third in 2024-2025. Home to many strong skiers, including the famous Vladimir Smirnov, the city of Schuchinsk is ready to host all Asian roller skiing athletes from September 4-7.

The current Asian Cup leader after each stage will have the opportunity to compete at the FIS Roller Ski World Cup in the Asian leader bib.

Also, the FIS Roller Ski Asian Championships are planned to be held every two years starting from 2026.

Information and rules will be available on the website rollerski.kz
