Saturday is time for the 2024 edition of Tjejvasan. Here, you will find some tips to help you reach your goal.

Saturday is time for this year’s edition of Tjejvasan. At 09:00 CET, the women’s only race will start in Sweden; currently, approximately 6.400 skiers are registered for the event.

Like many other women, Maja Eriksson, a Team Ramudden member, will race Tjejvasan on Saturday. Next to her elite investment, Eriksson works as a journalist at Langd.se. In this article, the skier gives her best tips for a pleasant experience on Saturday.

  1. Avoid stress before the start – be out in good time: It is easy to get stressed before the start in these types of races. Take your time; everything takes longer than you think.
  2. Eat a solid breakfast – but don’t get too full: When standing at the starting line, it’s not nice to be too full. Instead, eat more the day before and what you can manage for breakfast early in the morning.
  3. Energy intake during the race: To endure the race, you need to get in energy along the way. Having a couple of gels with you and drinks and energy at the feed stations is good.
  4. Prepare the skis: To get the best experience possible, it is important to prepare your skis. If you don’t have the opportunity or knowledge to prepare them, you can always get help from a waxing service.
  5. Don’t dress too hot or cold: At the time of writing, the weather forecast shows plus degrees, which means that once you get started, your body will quickly warm up.
  6. Take the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere: There will be a fantastic atmosphere during the race, and enjoy extra time when you cross the finish line in Mora.
  7. Check your snow baskets: As it looks like the snow could be soft, ensure you have big snow baskets to avoid the poles sinking too much into the snow.

“I hope that those of you who are going to race Tjejvasan will have a wonderful experience and that some of my tips may help you,” says Maja Eriksson.
