Team Engcon dominates Jizerská50 as Bruvoll and Gjerde Alnæs take the win
The traditional long-distance ski race started and finished in Bedřichov. Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and her teammate Ole Jørgen Bruvoll won the 58th edition of Jizerská50, the seventh stage of Ski Classics and the second Grand Classics event of Season XVI.
JIZERSKÁ50 – WOMEN’S RACE
In the women’s race, which started at 8:00 CET, the speed was high right from the start. Soon, thirteen athletes formed the first group, including all the favorites. Emilie Fleten was in front, setting the pace after just a couple of kilometers into the race.
At the first Climb checkpoint of the day in Na Kneipě, 10.6km into the race, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, crossed first, followed by Stina Nilsson, Team Ragde Charge, and Jenny Larsson, Lager 157 Ski Team, all in the same second. After crossing the checkpoint, only seven skiers were at the front group within 6.4 seconds.
Soon after the Climb, a front group of six strong skiers was formed, containing Emilie Fleten, Jenny Larsson, Stina Nilsson, Silje Øyre Slind, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, and Hanna Lodin.
With 22.6km into the race, at Jizerka, the battle for the Sprint points saw Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, crossing the checkpoint first. Silje Øyre Slind, Team Aker Dæhlie, followed in second, and Jenny Larsson, Lager 157 Ski Team, in the third position.
Heading towards Smédava climb, with about 21km to go, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs took the lead and increased the pace, with Emilie Fleten fighting to regain contact a few seconds behind the front group. Soon, Team Ramudden’s Pro Team athlete could close the gap and kept setting the pace.
At Smédava, the second Climb checkpoint of today’s event, 31.2km into the race, Stina Nilsson, Team Ragde Charge, crossed in first position, Jenny Larsson, Lager 157 Ski Team, in second, and Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, in third.
From there, the women’s race was exciting, with five strong skiers at the front to the finish line: Jenny Larsson, Stina Nilsson, Hanna Lodin, Emilie Fleten, and Anikken Gjerde Alnæs.
In the end, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, sprinted to the finish line, winning this year’s Jizerská50 in a superior style and only 0.4 seconds ahead of Jenny Larsson, Lager 157 Ski Team. Hanna Lodin, Team Engcon, finished in third position, 1.9 seconds behind the winner.

JIZERSKÁ50 – MEN’S RACE
In the men’s race, which started at 8:30 CET, the action started early. Thomas Ødegaarden, Team Eksjöhus, and Alvar Myhlback, Lager 157 Ski Team, set a fast pace, stretching the field right from the gun and trying their hands.
At Na Kneipě, the first Climb checkpoint at the 10.6km mark, Johan Hoel and Runar Skaug Mathisen were leading, a few seconds ahead of the main group. However, we saw Runar Skaug Mathisen, Lager 157 Ski Team, crossing first, ahead of Johan Hoel, Team Ragde Charge, in second, and Stian Hoelgaard, Team Aker Dæhlie, in the third position and 3.5 seconds back.
At the Jizerka Sprint checkpoint, 22.6km into the race, Mikael Gunnulfsen, Team Ragde Charge, crossed first, Vebjørn Moen, Team Eksjöhus, in second, and Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team, in third.
A big leading group of about 30 skiers was at the front heading to Smédava, the second Climb checkpoint of today’s event at 31.2km into the race. The action started to happen towards the climb, when Team Eksjöhus took the reins and forced the main group to increase the pace and chase Jeremy Royer.
At the top, Jeremy Royer, Team Eksjöhus, was first at the Smédava Climb checkpoint, followed by Johan Hoel, Team Ragde Charge, and Torleif Syrstad, Team Engcon.
After the Climb, a small group took the lead and got a break, with Team Engcon at the front and setting a ferocious pace with Torleif Syrstad, Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, and Johan Tjelle. Only Johan Hoel, Team Ragde Charge, was able to follow the break.
Inside the 10km to go mark, the leading group was reduced to only three skiers, and the battle for the win was only possible for Hoel, Syrstad, and Bruvoll.
In the end, Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, Team Engcon, took his chance and sprinted to the finish line, winning Jizerská50 in grand style and his first-ever Ski Classics Pro Tour victory.
Second place went to Torleif Syrstad, also from Team Engcon, 0.1 seconds behind. Johan Hoel, Team Ragde Charge, completed the podium in the third position, 0.8 seconds behind the winner.

SKI CLASSICS COMPETITIONS – CURRENT STANDINGS
After Jizerská50, Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Ole Jørgen Bruvoll, Team Engcon, lead the Yellow Champion Bib Competition.
Anikken Gjerde Alnæs, Team Engcon, and Vebjørn Moen, Team Eksjöhus, are carrying the Green bib of the Sprint Competition, after one Sprint today.
Emilie Fleten, Team Ramudden, and Oskar Kardin, Lager 157 Ski Team, carry the bib for the Climb Competition after two Climbs at today’s event.
The Pink Bib for the best Youth rests on Hanna Lodin, Team Engcon, and Jeremy Royer, Team Eksjöhus.
Team Engcon is the best-ranked Pro Team after Jizerská50 Season XVI.
Season XVI of the Ski Classics Pro Tour consists of 14 events across 10 event weekends in 6 countries. It started in Bad Gastein, Austria, on December 13, 2024, with the Pro Team Presentation and ends in Finnsnes, Norway, with the Ski Classics Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja on March 30, 2025.
Next are the Grönklitt Criterium 61 and Grönklitt ITT on Saturday and Sunday, February 15 and 16, 2025. The events mark the eighth and ninth Ski Classics stages of Season XVI.
