Swedish national team skier focuses on Ski Classics: “Very attractive offer”

Ski Classics
She has won medals in both the U23 and Junior World Championships. Now, the Swedish national team skier has chosen to switch to long-distance skiing and will focus entirely on Ski Classics next season.

Louise Lindström made her debut in Ski Classics earlier this winter. During the races in Orsa, she competed for Team Eksjöhus and finished 17th at the Grönklitt Criterium and 5th at the Grönklitt ITT. After an offer from Team Eksjöhus, she has decided to focus entirely on the long-distance races next season. In an interview with SVT Sport, she commented about the decision.

“Orsa and my first Ski Classics race was really an adventure, so I got a taste for it. Even though it was not something I had trained for, I felt that this is something I want to do more,” says Louise Lindström.

Was it a difficult choice?

“There has been a lot of thinking. But when I thought about what feels exciting and what attracts me in my development right now, the long-distance team’s offer was very attractive and feels very, very nice,” says Lindström.

The 23-year-old Lindström has two Junior World Championships golds on her resume and several medals from the U23 World Championships. So far, she has raced 22 races in the World Cup. Louise finished 2nd overall at the Ford Smart Energy Cup this season.

This weekend, Louise Lindström raced Janteloppet, the 15th and final event of Ski Classics Season XV and finished in 15th place.
