Svärd Steps Down As Pro Team Director

Director Oskar
Team Eksjöhus is changing the leadership structure for the coming season. Oskar Svärd leaves the position as Pro Team Director.

The former skier and three-time Vasaloppet winner Oskar Svärd were nominated for Pro Team Director of Season XIV. But now, there will be a different role for Svärd next season:

“Oskar will step down from the role of Pro Team Director. He will be behind the scenes, but not in his current role. The reason is lack of time; you are away a lot on a mission like this, and with family and his work at the Armed Forces, there is simply no time. And there are no bad feelings about this,” says Espen Träldal, Team Eksjöhus, to Lang.se.

Oskar Svärd:

“It has been great fun starting up and building the team. And it has gone very well. We have set high goals and have worked extremely hard. Since then, there have been both tough moments and, above all, fun moments. The decision to step down has grown, and it is above all that I feel that I am away from the family too much,” says Svärd.

You have, among other things, been a coach for Magni Smedås. Will you keep that role?

“We have not decided on those topics yet. What is clear is that I will not retain the role that I have now. Now it’s about setting up an organization and finishing with skiers. Then after that, we’ll see what I can add. It must feel right and, above all make the team stronger,” says Svärd.

The new Pro Team Director will now be Träldal, who previously had the role of sports manager:

“I am enormously grateful to my wife who lets me work on this, which I enjoy so much. I look forward to the coming work, and, as I said, I will play with Oskar in the future as well,” says Träldal.

Does this mean you will recruit a new sporting director to the team?

“We are going to recruit a talented person, then we can return to what role that will be,” says Träldal.

The service team with manager Joakim Augustsson will be reinforced for the coming season with the Italian Luca Angelini, who was around the team during parts of this year’s season. Now he has signed a three-year contract with Team Eksjöhus.

Yesterday, ProXCskiing published about Magni Smedås. The Pro Team athlete signed a three-year contract with Team Eksjöhus.
