Ski Classics Pre-Season Race in Sjusjøen!

Ski Classics has the pleasure of announcing a new pre-season race concept taking place this year in Sjusjøen, Norway, on November 12, 2022.

To continue to build interest in the sport and have an early long-distance skiing premier on snow, for athletes to check shape, fitness and technique, Ski Classics is today announcing a new pre-season 30-km long race in classic technique in Sjusjøen, Norway, taking place on November 12, 2022.

The event is a Ski Classics Challengers competition in cooperation with Sjusjøen and the Norwegian Biathlon Association. The biathletes have their own premier the same weekend in Sjusjøen but on separate tracks.

As mentioned, the race will be 30km long and carried out as a Super Criterium. Super Crit is defined in skiing as a mass-start loop race with several laps of less than 5km each. The women and men winners will receive half a moose each as a prize!

“To start the season with our own event already in November is something we have been working on for some time. We want our athletes to be able to meet each other on their own terms. Being able to do the first edition in Sjusjøen feels like an honor. Sjusjøen is one of the world’s epicenters for cross-country skiing. We are also very glad about the positive response from the Norwegian Biathlon Association being part in their weekend!” says David Nilsson, Director of Ski Classics.

The Super Criterium competition will be TV produced by NRK in cooperation with Ski Classics/Wsportsmedia. The broadcast will also be available at SC Play, langrenn.com, langd.se, maastohiihto.com and proxcskiing.com, with English commentaries.

Sjusjøen in Norway is known as a cross-country skiing eldorado. Norway’s premier destination for long-distance and cross-country skiing has an impressive 2.500km of tracks, with plenty of choices for both professional and recreational skiers.
