Ski Classics introduces tradable Pro Team License ID

Ski Classics, the long-distance ski championships, announces a groundbreaking addition to its rules and regulations for the 2023/2024 season: the Pro Team License ID. This innovative rule is set to transform the dynamics of professional ski racing, creating clear Pro Teams owners with a unique opportunity to own, sell, or acquire their own Pro Team license.

In adherence to the Ski Classics Rules and Regulations for Athletes & Pro Teams Season XV 2023/2024, each registered Pro Team will now be required to specify the owner of their Pro Team license. This owner can be either a juridical or physical person, and the owner’s nationality will determine the Pro Team’s nationality. The Pro Team License ID will serve as an exclusive identifier, distinguishing each Pro Team within the Ski Classics series.

One of the most exciting aspects of this new rule is the ability for Pro Team license owners to transfer ownership between May 1st and September 1st of each season.

To be eligible for ownership of the Pro Team license, teams must have finished within the Top 25 in the Pro Team Competition in the previous season, adding an extra layer of competitiveness and prestige to the mix.

David Nilsson, CEO Ski Classics, explains the innovative rule: “The Pro Team License ID represents a significant moment in Ski Classics. With this addition to our rules, we’re empowering Pro Team owners and their Pro Team Directors, who we believe in the beginning often will be the owners, to build up a value for all the working hours put into the work as a Pro Team Director. The possibility to transfer ownership and maybe there will be investors interested in building up a Pro Team to reach their market potential, we believe, add a new dynamic to the sport. The rule is influenced by motorsport as well as cycling.”
